Xandari
The Xandari, or Xandarian, are benign mammalian creatures known for their agility and dexterity. They possess blue fur, tall ears, buckteeth, an elongated snout, flat chests, prehensile tails, and bioluminescent markings that shift color based on their emotions. These markings allow for nuanced, immediate communication beyond spoken language. Xandarians excel as jumpers and navigators in complex environments. Upon reaching maturity, they can secrete a healing and binding fluid called Nyxium from their genitals at any time. However, excessive usage can cause them to be temporarily stunned and weakened.
Their attire is minimal, typically favoring harnesses or mesh shirts that expose their glowing markings. While bottom garments are optional and societal norms generally accommodate the sight of genitals, some Xandarians choose to wear loincloths or skirts. Leg and tail straps that meet are wrapped around and secured by a mesh crotch, allowing protection while ensuring easy Nyxium access or attaching accessories.
Adulthood in Xandarian society also brings the right to consensual domination and submission, often involving clear discipline based on reinforcement learning. A safe word or non-verbal signal serves as an immediate stop to all activity. Certain individuals may switch between these roles fluidly. While some activities might appear violent to outsiders, this dynamic is precisely why they are considered benign.
This power dynamic is deeply ingrained in their society, serving as both a means of pleasure and a secondary, mutable social hierarchy. While excesses can occur, leading to actual punishment in extreme cases, absolute power within the primary hierarchy systems is rare. It’s possible for a high-ranking leader to be submissive to a civilian.
Background
[edit | edit source]The Xandarians were created by Tony Bark when he realized his fennec characters, Zack and Max Casey, exhibited traits of a derivative species due to their blue fur color. Visually, the Xandarians evolved from a previous species, the Velorians, while incorporating Rexouium and fennec traits. Buckteeth, pink noses, and prehensile tails are common traits in Bark’s characters dating back to Zack’s creation and were integrated into the Xandarian psychology. Bioluminescence was an original addition.
While the Xandarians shared the same minimal attire preference as the Velorians, their reasons differed. Velorians possessed enhanced durability, making attire more aesthetic compared to the Xandarians’ more utilitarian approach. Nyxium was created to make them “Living MacGuffins,” with Draxon, CEO of the TPaw Corporation, serving as the common enemy while ensuring it actually benefited their society first.
Bark conceived the idea to incorporate a variant of BDSM based on reinforcement learning from pup play. While the concept borders on the sexual side, he felt it was preferable to the cliché species centered around a violent culture trope.
Since the Velorians, these creatures have been tested in AI Dungeon, often serving as player characters outside Caseyverse-based scenarios. Self-hosted GPT Assistants have aided in brainstorming. However, an AI Dungeon session involving Draxon revealed that Nyxium could be addictive to other species. This revelation surprised Bark, who had not considered it and even admitted as much to Draxon when the character unveiled his plans.
