Created by Tony Bark, Max Casey is a blue fennec with spiky brown hair, pink highlights and heterochromia eyes. He can be seen wearing a letterman jacket and a pleated skirt. Unless he is sleeping, Max always has his goggles perched on his forehead.

History

Max is a music lover who writes songs and plays the guitar. He frequently works alongside a band named Bark Pack. When he isn’t working with them, he releases his own singles. Before the band became popular, he lived in the city of Bridgeport. Now, Max lives in Gingerbread Village at Hazelwood Manor with Foxxo, who agreed to let him stay if he promised to help with the bakery. He only returns to the city for friends, family or concert tours.

Background

Created in 2024, Max is Tony Bark’s fursona that doubles as a supporting character or protagonist in his stories. Although a relatively new addition to the Caseyverse canon, he is directly derived from modern incarnations of Zack Casey based on Bark’s Second Life avatar. The decision to split the two was made in order to streamline both, allowing Zack to resume his original role as a DJ.

During Max’s development, he was originally named JD, though this was changed as it didn’t flow off the tongue, and Bark wanted to avoid his fursona being associated with recent political events. He had always given Zack hats, and Max was originally intended to inherit that, but it was decided to give him goggles based on a friend’s version of Zack that had them. Along with the hair highlights, Bark decided to make the goggles Max’s signature appearance, much like Zack’s hat.

Although Max’s backstory was originally intended to be set at one of Bridgeport’s universities, Bark’s supporting characters weren’t ready because he spent too much time on the world. He used his ongoing merging of Piti Yindee’s Wuffle canon into the Caseyverse to work around the dilemma. Bark’s solution was keeping Max’s city roots but moving him to Gingerbread Village, his home away from home, to get away from the constant spotlight.
