While characters within the Caseyverse typically use modern or contemporary names from the America, Europe and Asia, this is simply for convenience to the reader and writer. In-universe, Nethington’s culture actually used an ancient clan structure retroactively known as D’Jarak. This page only describes the names, identity, and overall structure. Beyond that, the possibilities are endless.

Name and Identity

[edit | edit source]

Before the present day, a person’s name was more than just an identifier; it was a declaration of their place in society. The name reflected the individual’s personal qualities, chosen by the clan elders at birth after careful observation of the newborn’s abilities. For example, a warrior named “Tig J’Khanna” might be known for their strength and bravery, while a scholar named “Gan B’Scorak” would be revered for their wisdom and insight.

Structure

[edit | edit source]

The surname, on the other hand, ties them to their lineage and clan, such as the J’Clan or D’Clan. Each clan often specialized in a skill or trade. D’Clan, for example, were diplomats and traders, while J’Clan were warrior clans and fierce protectors. Y’Clan are the more adventurous type, often venturing beyond Nethington’s borders and returning with tales of distant lands and exotic treasures. This is often how outsiders first hear of them.
