Tom Wilcox is a gray border collie created by Tony Bark. They have brown hair and red hair with blue highlights. They are a skateboarder who loves to photograph and design art for skateboards and has some computing experience in programming. Tom wears a beanie, a worn-out vest and a denim skirt that rides up to reveal their crotch. They wear a backpack that carries extra skate wheels, a camera, a microcomputer, and a smartphone. While they have a male build and psychology, they were born with female genitals and are capable of giving birth.

They frequently talk about skateboarding, often using slang picked up from the community in the middle of conversations alongside occasional tech jargon. They can always be found sketching or collecting unusual objects that pique their interests, such as skateboard wheels or broken electronics. However, they can be overconfident and reckless, sometimes slipping into tunnel vision when focused on a certain project or idea. Tom sees themselves as a maverick, creator and master of their domain wanting to be recognized and leave their mark but most of all, express themselves.

Background

Tom Wilcox dates back to a brief period when the collie was Bark’s fursona that had a university storyline. Being his fursona, Tom had the same brown hair adopted from his predecessors, Zack and Aidan, though they wore a letterman jacket after falling in love with Sims’ university expansion and desire to go to college.

After a fallout with an open source project and a sudden interest in fennecs, Bark retired and abandoned Tom as a fursona and after the fennec picked up the collie’s backstory, however, Bark wanted to bring him back and finally did in the early 2020s, following the rise of furry-based diffusion models. Early prototypes of a basic gray-furred collie were based on his wizard adventures in AI Dungeon, featuring a tunic with cuffs and a necklace.

Bark wanted to experiment with different hair colors, and they were supposed to have ginger hair, but he used the phrase “red hair,” momentarily forgetting that AI tends to interrupt things literally without context. Despite this genuine mistake, Bark liked the result, and it influenced his redesign to pay homage to Red Heads and Tomboys.
