Mirabel Republic, or simply the Republic, is a fictional egalitarian government by Tony Bark.

Government

The Republic complex Byzantine bureaucracy and Parliamentary system that encourages free and lively debate. The society believes in Shared Burdens, an equitable distribution of resources, making little to no distinction between the needs of ruler and ruled. The government's council features seats for Minister of State, Head of Research, and Minister of Defense, as well as two additional seats. Though a Pacifist, the Republic's defenses are quite strong.

Economy

In the Republic, every citizen receives a starting capital upon reaching maturity. This money can be spent or invested in properties, transportation infrastructure, disputes, or loans. Public housing serves as a safety net for those who cannot afford to pay off their debts. The economy of Nethington emphasizes investment in community and shared resources over personal wealth accumulation. Citizens are encouraged to invest in parks, schools, and other communal assets.

Despite the open nature of this system, individuals continue to respect boundaries, and trespassing penalties remain enforced. Disputes within Nethington's society are resolved through the judicial system, with courts handling all conflict resolution matters.
