Alizam is a branch of Meteorite Magic that grants the individual invulnerability, flight, enhanced stamina, super strength and speed when possessing an artifact enchanted with it after the individual says the phrase, “Alizam!”. It is one of the most rare yet sought-after forms of this magic, in part due to the immortality it grants when in use.

Limitations

The artifact itself has a natural failsafe because it is based on Meteorite Magic. Prolonged usage gradually drains the artifact, forcing it to be recharged once depleted. This prevents the worst effects of this power: mental strain and addiction. Furthermore, any other magic user of Meteorite Magic or other forms can interfere with these artifacts, either weakening them or shutting them down entirely. Finally, the artifact is not indestructible, and any breakage means the individual will lose their power and have to find another artifact enchanted with Alizam.

Background

Due to Shazam's public domain status, Bark had been wanting to make his own family of heroes based on the concept, but that first required getting around the trademark problem that DC suffers from. When he discovered that Marvel Bunny, one of the Fawcett-era heroes from the Shazam family, had been rebranded as Magic Bunny with the new magic phrase, “Alizam!”, Bark realized that he had stumbled upon a loophole. He created his own version of Shazam that used the Alizam phrase instead.

This reimagined version was structured around the Meteorite magic system, granting the same power and immortality but with new limits. Bark figured Alizam was the most familiar and approachable way to introduce his magic system in the long run, while creating new superheroes based on it.
